Overachievers and Underachievers in the NBA
We’re several games into the regular season, and times are exciting in the NBA. Sure, it’s early in the year and a lot can change, but there are a few trends that seem to have sparked the interest of many fans, wondering how things will play out through the course of the season.
There have been some great developing stories through the first few games of the season. Here’s a quick glimpse as to what’s going on if you haven’t been keeping up.
The first thing that should be mentioned is the stellar play of the Phoenix Suns. Through its four games, this team is unbeaten, and a tough win at Miami showed that this team is for real.
They haven’t made any significant roster additions, but Nash, Richardson, Stoudemire, Hill, Barbosa, and the rest of the team have plenty of talent to go around. Could the Suns be a better team without the big Diesel?
Next on the list are the Oklahoma City Thunder. With some big names on the team like Kevin Durant, Jeff Green, Russell Westbrook, and newest addition James Harden, every basketball fan knew that this team could be a good one within a few years.
The Thunder have improved some more since last season, and the beginning of their year took many fans by surprise.
With wins over the Kings and the Pistons (this one was on the road), they got off to a 2-0 start. Nearly beating the Lakers after this was perhaps the team’s best achievement.
There’s one more team for us to review, and this is one that seems to be struggling. The Cleveland Cavs dominated the regular season last year, but 09-10 seems to have brought just the opposite to start things out.
With some losses to the Celtics and the Raptors, people had to wonder what was going on in Cleveland. While the team has won its three games since those losses, they’ve all come against relatively weak opponents.
