Chicago Bulls Under Vinny Del Negro
The Chicago Bulls had a better season then their record would have indicated in 08′ -’09, 41-41. They were eliminated in the first round by the hands of the Boston Celtics but proved they had a never say quit mentality. Each game was seemingly more dramatic then the previous one. The Celtics had all they could ever want from the Bulls in that series without question. The Bulls look to build off their great performance in the 09′ playoffs this season.
Led by the skill of Ben Gordon and Luol Deng, this team was a force to be reckoned with. Ultimately, things collapsed in Chicago, which led to the firing of head coach Scott Skiles.
Point guard and rookie sensation Derrick Rose had a fantastic rookie season. Rose averaged 6 assists per game, 16 points per game and started 81 games. Rose is a very explosive player and has all-star written on him.
Much of the Bulls’ success hinges upon the youth of this team. It seems as if each season, the Chicago Bulls are acquiring more promising young talent, and one season, everything will gel. This may be the year. Let’s take a look at some of the players in the mix.
John Salmons has his best season to date scoring’ points per game for the Bulls last season, the Bulls will need all the points they can get from him.
It’s been over 10 years since the Bulls last won a championship – but the Michael Jordan, Scottie Pippen and Phil Jackson era is still fresh in many of the Bulls fans minds.
The “Baby” Bulls have a touch act to follow but have good upside to their team. They might be one big man away from contending for the East title; also they need more low post scoring and limit their jump shots.
With Vinny Del Negro coming aboard, things could change this year. He knows the game extremely well, but has little experience as a coach. Time will tell, is it their year?
