Lebron James Has An Impressive 41″ Vertical Jump. Start Jumping Like Lebron With This Workout.
At 41 inches, Lebron James Vertical Leap is one of the best in the NBA. His vertical jump helps him pull down rebounds, block shots, and dunk over his competition. It pretty much makes the game of basketball a little easier overall. Now I can’t tell you that I can have you dunking like Lebron James, but if you are willing to put in a little hard work and use the right training program, you CAN significantly increase your vertical.
There are three major muscle groups you should focus on if you want to improve your vertical jump….the quads, hamstrings, and calves. Why should you focus only on these muscles? Because they are responsible for more than 80 percent of your leaping power!
The following exercises are some of my favorites for increasing your vertical leap. They will not only strenghten your muscles but you will gain inches on your vertical as well:
Barbell Squats – This exercise hits ALL the muscle groups we need in order to improve our speed and leaping ability. If you only choose one exercise to do, this would be the one to pick. When performing this exercise make sure to squat down so your thighs are parallel to the ground.
Paused Jump Squat – This is a good variation to the regular squat. Use a weight that is about 20% of your max. Squat down so that your thighs are parallel to the ground and then hold this position for 3 seconds. Next, EXPLODE UP and jump as high as you can. Do 3 sets of 8.
50 Yard Sprints – Believe it or not running sprints is a great way to increase not only your top speed but your vertical jump as well. The two basically go hand in hand. Once or twice a week you should perform 3-5 50 yard sprints at your maximum speed.
An area that is often overlooked when trying to improve your vertical jump is your jumping technique. Just by implementing the correct form you can see an immediate increase of 2-4 inches. I know this from experience because this is an area that I had to focus on. For more information on the proper jumping technique visit the links I have below.
