Fantasy Basketball Analysis for the New Season
If your fantasy basketball draft is coming up and you’ve been fortunate enough to get the first pick this year, the good news is that you’ll end up with a great player who should carry your team to great levels of success.
There are great players to choose from, there’s no doubt about that. However, I see how it can be a difficult decision, and I’d like to help you out a bit. Let’s take a look at the potential contenders at number one this year.
If you’re into the idea of getting an elite point guard, you’ll have to look no further than Chris Paul. No basketball player has been more effective than Paul during the last two years.
Paul’s well rounded game gives you stats that you’ll typically get out of no other point guard. The most assists in the NBA, the most steals in the NBA, and a point guard who shoots over 50% are all really hard to pass up on.
While Paul is a great option without a doubt, many will be tempted by the idea of having LeBron James on their fantasy team. They have every reason to be tempted. James is arguably as valuable as Paul, as he contributes just about everywhere, especially when it comes to assists.
In addition to his assists, he’s an exceptional shot blocker and three point shooter. He’s also a legitimate contender to lead the league in scoring, and should average somewhere around 30 points per game. He’s extremely durable and rarely misses a game due to injury.
Next on the list of possibilities is Kobe Bryant, a personal favorite of many NBA fans. Bryant’s stats are similar to LeBron’s, only he has less turnovers and a better free throw percentage, giving him a more well rounded appeal.
If none of these guys appeal to you and you feel like taking a flier, both Kevin Durant and Danny Granger could very well end the season as the best fantasy players. Both were top ten players last season and they’re both poised to improve this year.
