Increase Your Vertical Leap TODAY by Changing Your Jumping Form

I have good news for you today, here it is….Jumping higher is a skill that can be learned. If you implement the correct jumping techniques and practice them regularly, you can make significant gains in your vertical leap very quickly. It seems like every time I go to the basketball court I see a guy who is trying to dunk, and he is very close, but just can’t seem to throw it down.

These guys get the same result every time……another missed dunk! Why is this? Well, they are using the same approach, the same mis-steps, and the same bad form each time. If they would take some time out and practice implementing the proper jumping techniques they could get the extra inches they are looking for and be dunking in no time. Adjusting your jumping form can increase your vertical leap by 3-6 inches! That is pretty impressive if you ask me. So what is the perfect jumping form? Let’s take a look…

The 7 steps to a perfect jump are listed below. Now this is just a brief overview of the perfect jump but all of the steps are there. To learn more about how you can increase your vertical leap and the proper jumping techniques visit the links I have placed at the bottom of the page.

1. Warm Up – Make sure you run around a little and get your muscles warm. This will increase the elasticity of your muscles and joints and increase your blood flow as well.

2. Stretch – I know, I know, stretching is not very fun. But once again, this increases the elasticity of your muscles and that is what we need.

3. Eliminate Mental Blocks – You need to have the mindset that you are going to muster up all the potential you have in your body. Don’t let failure be an option! Visualize yourself successfully completing the jump.

4. Exaggerate The Last Step – This will put your body in the perfect position and prepare your muscles for EXPLODING up.

5. Use Your Whole Body – Don’t just jump with your legs. Use your arms and lower back to help you out as well. Throw them in an upward motion to help propel you higher in the air. Also, pointing your toes upward toward your knees just before you EXPLODE up will allow for a more full range of motion.

6. Shift Your Momentum Up – You will have a lot of forward momentum gathered up right before you take off. Practice using this momentum by transferring it upward without slowing down or stopping before explosion.

7. Be Quick – In order to allow your momentum to take you upward you must transfer it quickly and fluidly. It may take practice to get this perfect. If you shuffle your feet, go to slow or over-exaggerate the last step you will be thrown off the synchonization of the movement.

Hopefully you were able to learn something or pick up a tiny gem from this overview of the proper jumping form. If you would like additional information about how to increase your vertical leap visit the links I have below:
