Oklahoma City Thunder 2010 Preview
The Oklahoma City are one of the weakest teams in the NBA, and playing in the Western Conference doesn’t exactly help the team’s cause. Despite this, there’s a loyal base of fans in Oklahoma City, happy to see their team play whenever they have the chance to.
The novelty might start to wear off if the team isn’t going to perform better this season. A team in a new town always had success typically so the Thunder might get a pass on the bad play.
Having formerly been the Sonics in Seattle, the basketball lovers in Seattle are still mourning the loss of their Sonics, but they may have to wait a while before they’ll get another NBA franchise. As for fans in Oklahoma City, they’ll be happy to have their Thunder, good or bad.
In Oklahoma City, fans are happy because of the presence of Kevin Durant. This is a player with all of the tools to be a top-3 player in the league, and he’s definitely headed down that path if his past two seasons are any indicator.
Durant will have to do the majority of the work this season like last for the Thunder to even compete in most games. Durant is still very young so hopefully his career won’t be wasted on bad teams every single season.
Durant is the Oklahoma City Thunder franchise player as of now – Durant should be among the scoring leaders once again and perhaps the scoring leader at the end of the season.
Then there are Russell Westbrook and Jeff Green, two very talented players in their own respects. They’ll be of help for sure.
The story of the 09-10 season for the Oklahoma City Thunder will be the emergence of Kevin Durant as a household name. Many are banking on this, and it’ll be fun to watch this superstar reach yet another level in his game.
